The situation throughout the Middle East remains unpredictable due to ongoing tensions in the region.

The Government of Canada and its network of missions abroad remain fully engaged and are focused on the safety and security of Canadians in the Middle East.

Information for Canadians in Iran or Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip

Tensions remain high between Iran and Israel and hostilities could resume with little or no warning. The Government of Canada cannot guarantee the safety of Canadians abroad. Travellers are responsible for making informed decisions, assessing the security situation of their travel routes, and ensuring that they meet the entry requirements of their destination.

Canadians who want to leave Iran

Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport is open to commercial flights. Canadians in the region should monitor local and international media to stay informed of the rapidly evolving situation.

We urge all Canadians in the region to sign up for the Government of Canada’s Registration of Canadians Abroad service, so that they can receive direct, important updates.

If you’re a loved one of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident in the Middle East who cannot register themselves, please do so on their behalf and include their phone number.

Registration can also be completed by contacting Global Affairs Canada’s 24/7 Emergency Watch and Response Centre.

Canadians who are already registered should make sure their registration and contact details are up to date.

Travel documents required for travel to Canada

Canadians and permanent residents who don’t have valid travel documents to come to Canada must apply for them as soon as possible.

Canadians and permanent residents planning to travel to Canada must ensure they have the valid travel documents to do so, including those for their spouse and dependent children.
